I have the urge to kvetch about all the work I have to do this coming week. I just took on a newsletter for the GWNC Chamber of Commerce. It’s an eight-page publication with pictures and advertising and everything. I am pretty nervous about it. I will have to learn an entirely new program, Adobe InDesign, to lay it out. I will be coming up with story ideas, interviewing people, possibly attending events. I also have other work to do for another one of my best clients. It will be a busy week. Thank goodness.
Since going to Georgia in June/July I’ve been basically wasting a lot of time pretending to work when I was actually just finding new, weird things to obsess about. For instance, I decided I HAD to find a shelf for a 43″ wide, 18″ deep, 8 foot high space in my laundry room. I spent many hours running searches online, going to various big box stores in the area looking for just the right width, height and depth. I also looked for baskets I wanted to use for storage on the shelves. I considered painting the back wall in the space blue. It became my goal in life. Luckily for me, some work I did for an event called Emerge NNY at the beginning of August got my professional name out there a little and now the rest of August-November is shaping up to be pretty busy.
Tonight Dustin and I are going to a restaurant that requires actual reservations for our seven-year anniversary dinner. He is pouting because he wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse.
We have been fortunate enough to take a brief trips to celebrate our anniversary every single year – even last year when Lila was still nursing. However, this year we spent our anniversary trip money on the family trip to Georgia. Plus, I am going to have to buy a new computer for work. Plus, we just spent over $6,000 on a wood boiler system to heat our house. I’m pretty bummed about having to stick around here for the first time in seven years for our anniversary weekend. At the very least we get to celebrate at a restaurant that requires reservations!
